What are Rolling Ladders?
Storage tank rolling ladders are used to provide access from a gauging platform at the top of the tank shell to the storage tank floating roof. A track on the floating roof guides the rolling ladder as the liquid level changes in the tank. Because changing the liquid level affects the ladder angle, self-leveling treads are used to keep the walking surface level.
Fabrication of Storage Tank Rolling Ladders
The fabrication process for roller ladders involves several steps including cutting, finishing, assembly, and coating. The design is based on the dimensions of the storage tank, including the shell height, tank diameter, and the maximum liquid level. Once the design is finalized, the steel is cut to size using our plasma cutting table. The most common material is carbon steel, due to its strength and durability. Galvanizing the steel improves the appearance and protects the rolling ladder from corrosion.
